Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 19, 2026

Trading Grit ("the Service") is a trading journal and analytics service operated by an individual operator based in Japan ("we," "us," or "the Operator"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through the Service, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information: email address, password (stored hashed). If you sign in with Google, Apple, or X (Twitter), we receive the identifier those providers share with us.
  • Trade record data: symbol, direction, profit/loss, entry/exit price, date and time, notes, and setup information that you enter.
  • Chart images: screenshots of trading charts you upload.
  • Billing information: your subscription status and payment status. Card details themselves are never stored on our servers — they are held by Stripe (web) or by Apple (iOS in-app purchase).
  • Support requests: content you send us via the feedback form or by email.
  • Newsletter: the email address you provide if you subscribe.
  • Usage data: cookies, access logs, and device information.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the Service, authenticate you, and store your trade records.
  • To power analytics, statistics, AI-based chart parsing, and automatically generated daily/weekly reports.
  • To process subscription billing and manage your subscription status.
  • To respond to support requests and send transactional emails.
  • To send newsletter emails to subscribers, who may unsubscribe at any time.
  • To prevent abuse and to maintain and improve the Service.

3. Third Parties We Share Data With

We use the following processors to operate the Service. We do not sell your data to third parties.

  • Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure
  • Vercel — application hosting
  • Stripe, Inc. — card payment processing (web)
  • Apple Inc. — in-app purchase billing (iOS)
  • Anthropic PBC (Claude API) — AI parsing of chart images and report generation
  • Google LLC (Gemini API) — AI parsing of chart images and report generation
  • Resend — transactional and newsletter email delivery

Chart images and trade data sent to AI providers are used solely to produce parsing results and reports, and are handled under each provider's own policies.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time. Deleting your account promptly deletes your personal data, including trade records and chart images, except where we are required by law to retain it.

5. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to understand usage of the Service. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features may not work correctly if you do.

6. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data that we hold. Contact us using the details below to make a request.

7. International Data Transfers

Some of the processors listed in Section 3 operate infrastructure outside your country, including in the United States and Japan. Where your data is transferred internationally, we rely on the processors' own compliance mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses, where applicable) to protect it.

8. Notice to Users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the following additional information applies to you under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent UK/Swiss law.

  • Legal basis for processing. We process your account and trade data to perform our contract with you (providing the Service you signed up for), on the basis of your consent (for optional features such as the newsletter), and on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the Service.
  • Your GDPR rights. In addition to the rights in Section 6, you have the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • EU representative. Trading Grit is operated by an individual based in Japan with no establishment in the EU. We have not currently appointed an EU representative under Article 27 GDPR, as we believe our processing is occasional and does not involve large-scale special category data. If our processing activities change such that a representative becomes required, we will appoint one and update this policy.
  • Right to lodge a complaint. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe our processing of your data violates applicable law.

9. Children

If a minor uses the Service, they should do so with the consent of a parent or guardian.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the Service.
